INTERVIEW - RIGORMORPHIS

INTERVIEW - RIGERMORPHIS EDMONTON MUSIC INTERVIEWS #1 MUSIC MAGAZINE YEG YYC ALBERTA

Who are the members of and what do they play?

Currently it's just myself, Mike Catt.  I write and record everything on my own at home.

My core instruments are guitar and vocals, though this project is mainly synth focused.

That being said, I'm looking for other members for performing live in the future.

How would you classify your music?

Synth based, metal influenced, electronic with harsh vocals. Raw, energetic, dark. It's difficult to pinpoint, because I'm inspired by a very wide range of music.

Is there any inspiration for the band?

So many inspirations, new and old. Machine Girl, Street Sects, NIN, Chalk, Pig Destroyer, Death Grips, The Real Codington Factory, Lip Critic, JPEGMAFIA, The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza. I could go on for days.

What are your plans for the rest of 2026?

After recently releasing my E.P., I'm mainly focused on writing/recording material for an album. I used to play shows about 20 years ago with my band in Edmonton, but haven't made music in 15 years. I have a lot of pent up creativity to explore.

What would be your dream collaboration?

This is a very difficult question. So many artists I would love to work with! I'll have to go with Machine Girl on this one. I love they way they create, the layers, the intensity. I'd be ecstatic.

What's your favorite tv show right now?

Shoresy. I love to laugh. It's well written, clever, and full of Canadian talent.

What advice would you give new artists?

Don't overthink it. Make music for yourself. People will hear the sincerity, and you will find your true fans. Be patient with yourself, and the process. The world is so fast paced now, and good things take time. Appreciate the journey.

Anything else you want the viewers to know?

Never give up on your passion. After dealing with large amounts of loss, grief, trauma, and surviving a stroke, I can attest to the fact that it's never too late to start pursuing what makes you truly happy. Thank you to anyone and everyone who takes the time to listen to my music.
