INTERVIEW - DEEP ARCHIVE
INTERVIEW - DEEP ARCHIVE

1. How did you come up with your band name?
For quite a while we struggled to pick a name that wasn’t a joke or a dig at our guitarist, Will. We use a shared Dropbox folder of fragmented songs called “Deep Archive” to collect ideas, Jeff suggested that might be a good name and it stuck.
2. How would you describe your music to someone new?
Angular instrumental 90s indie guitar swing?…. Post post rock? Do genres mean anything anymore?
3. What’s the story behind your latest song/album?
As an instrumental band the audience gets to make up their own story behind the songs, so it’s a bit of a
choose your own adventure. Our latest song is called “Punk Rock Hall Monitor” we jokingly say is dedicated to Ian MacKaye.
4. What’s your favorite part about making music together?
Getting to play loud weird music in our mid 40s with our best friends!
5. What’s the best part of performing live?
Getting to play loud weird music at people who aren’t expecting it.
6. Which musicians inspire you the most?
I think collectively we could write a list a mile long of all the artists who have inspired us greatly, but at the end of the day seeing our pals make great music/art is by far the most inspiring part of doing this whole silly music thing.
7. What are you working on next?
We’re going to start making our first record in December!
