INTERVIEW - LOSER POINTS
INTERVIEW - LOSER POINTS

Who are the members of and what do they play?
We are back as a power trio again, just like we started out in late 2015! We have
Shawn - Vocals, Guitar
Josh - Bass
Kris - Drums
How would you classify your music?
It used to be easy to just say “punk” and have that give a general idea of the sound. As punk music has evolved, so have we, and throughout our discography we’ve touched on hardcore punk, skate punk, rock-heavy punk, and pop-punk. I like to think of us as a band that can play any style of punk, and right now I’d classify us as pop-leaning punk rock.a general
What do you have out now?
Our next release is a single called “Just Wondering” which is out November 28. Our back catalogue goes back to 2016 and is quite a wild ride for anyone willing to go on it. Some highlights would definitely be the Denial & Error LP and the latest run of singles which started in 2023. We also covered almost all of The Rocky Horror Show and I love that record.
Is there any inspiration for the band?
Punk is in my blood at this point so no matter what the influences are at any given point, they’re going to come out a certain way. Besides the overt influences anyone can glean from listening, some ones that may fly a bit more under the radar that have made it into our music are Queen, Muse, Motorhead, and blackbear. To be clear, I don’t think we sound like any of them, but I can dare to dream!
What are your plans for 2026?
We’re getting on that grind. As many shows as we can do, a steady stream of singles and then when it makes sense to do it, a new full length. Despite opinions and trends in music consumption, the statement piece of an LP is still very important to us, especially in this genre.
What would be your dream collaboration?
Some dream writing collabs for me would be Fat Mike, WZRDBLD, Matt Bellamy, Andrew Goldstein, John Feldmann, and Ryan Tedder. A dream video collab would be Damien Leone. A dream tour would be Ice Nine Kills even though we’d get absolutely smoked by them every night!
What’s your favourite part of the Edmonton music scene, anything it needs?
My favourite part of the Edmonton music scene is the resilience. A lot of us (even transplants like me that were just around a lot in my younger days) are still out there. A huge part of the scene (in our genre and adjacent areas) is very much homegrown, and there has been a ton of success, notoriety, and legacy from it. We hope to contribute our share.
What advice would you give new artists?
My advice to a new artist would be to not listen to any of my advice!
