INTERVIEW - NO SKIES
INTERVIEW - NO SKIES

What idea or sound became the creative spark that shaped the identity of this release?
• We mostly wanted to incorporate more influences and weirder parts well maintaining the same intention. Overall we were trying to invoke the spirit of 90s bands that strayed from the more straightforward tough guy style.
How does the Edmonton HC scene influence your writing?
• A lot of older bands have always been very welcoming since we started. Our favourite edmonton bands all sound distinct from one another which has inspired us to try to distinguish our sound in the context of wildrose hardcore
How was recording with Josh from Contain?
• Since we did the recording side pretty much on our own, it allowed us to take as much time as we needed to experiment with the sounds of the instruments. Our friend Josh from Contain handled the mixing and mastering which made the process very smooth since he knows what we are going for quite well
Are you planning on any tours or shows for promotion of the EP?
• We have an Edmonton release show at the end of this month and in Calgary the next day. This spring we are also playing the yearly hardcore fest in Calgary. We’d like to set up some shows farther away this summer but have nothing definitively planned yet.
How does this EP compare to your previous work?
• We aimed to push the sound of our last ep further while trimming some of the aspects that we grew to dislike. Experimenting with getting more expressive with the instrumentation was another angle that influenced the song writing.
Any advice for new artists in the HC scene?
• Don’t be apprehensive about getting involved because Edmonton is very accepting and could also use more participation in the underground music scene.
