INTERVIEW - THE STONEHEARTS
INTERVIEW - THE STONEHEARTS

1. How did you come up with your band name?
Myself (Niki), Migi and Sergio (our previous frontman) had a junior high band called The StoneHearts. We got the idea from a photograph on our music room wall depicting a large rock in the shape of a heart. At the time it was perfect for a couple of emo junior high kids, and when we merged bands together to make our current ensemble, the name stuck.
2. How would you describe your music to someone new?
Pop punk, Alternative Rock, with some catchy synth elements.
3. What’s the story behind your latest song?
From Migi : “Instrumentally, Step on me was a very experimental song for me to write on guitar as it has very weird chord shapes and cool melodies that I have not played before. I was heavily inspired by j rock bands that utilizes those techniques. Lyrically, its about obsessively being into someone to the point of wanting them to step on you, also about a lesbian”
4. What’s your favorite part about making music together?
It is a truly unique feeling to be able to watch each other develop and grow as musicians, especially in a time where we are all relatively new to being in a band. The more we collaborate on our music the more we find our sound and that is a wonderful experience to have with friends.
5. What’s the best part of performing live?
Feeling the sensation of loud, live music, both in a physical sense and in the way that energy circulates among the band and throughout the audience. There is always a kind of euphoria that comes with performing that is further amplified when being able to experience that with friends and bandmates.
7. What are you working on next?
We are working to record, mix and master our first 5 originals. Parallel to this we have many new songs in the works but recording will be our focus.
