INTERVIEW - BONEYARD

Catch their album release show Oct 23 @ Rec Room

1. Your music blends classic heavy metal with a modern edge. How would you describe the Boneyard sound today?

That's exactly right. After our first album "Oathbreaker" was released, a lot of press outlets said we had a New Wave of British Heavy Metal (N.W.O.B.H.M.) sound. So, I would say we mix traditional heavy rock with modern elements as you said, along with strong clean vocals.

2. What inspired the songwriting on your latest release?

With this being Lezzy's first proper album, and Garhardt's in many years, there was a wealth of music built up waiting to be explored. This new material really inspired Pamtera and I, thus resulting in a great collective effort.

3. How has the band's chemistry evolved since you first started playing together?

In addition to creating music, the chemistry really galvanized the band in other areas. For example, Garhardt handled all the preproduction and guitar recording in the studio, Lezzy is a wizard with video production and social media, Pamtera does merch and finances, and I help with press and album promotion.

4. Which artists or albums have had the biggest influence on Boneyard?

Oh man, that would be a very large list. We all have a very broad array of personal influences. From 80's metal, to 90's punk, to some artists of today (The Pretty Reckless, Wednesday 13 and Halestorm).

5. What message or feeling do you hope fans take away from your music?

That they connect with it personally, and hopefully buy it and want to see us perform.

6. What's been the most memorable moment of your career so far?

After literally years of various delays, to finally get this album released!! We had to persevere through a lot of challenges.

7. What can fans expect from Boneyard in the coming months?

Now that "Black Static" is done, all efforts will be to promote it and perform it live. We have album release parties planned for Edmonton (Oct.23) and Calgary (Dec.5). The other thing we are excited about is the release of "Black Static" on vinyl! Expect that sometime before Christmas 2026.
