INTERVIEW - SABATON

INTERVIEW - SABATON

Edmonton new music interview

1. Sabaton is playing multiple cities across Canada, including Edmonton, Calgary,

Vancouver, Toronto, and Halifax. What excites you most about touring Canada again?

A) Last time we played in Canada was when we opened for Judas Priest, and we only

had the opportunity to play in Montreal. I’ve always thought that Canada was bigger than

Montreal, and I’ve been insisting for a while now that we needed to have a full tour

across the whole country. Funnily enough, I was actually happy when we postponed the

tour earlier in 2026, because we were able to add more shows - a total of nine cities and

ten shows. Since Winnipeg was already sold out, I insisted on having another night there

so that more people could witness a Sabaton show. Now, I am very excited to do the

biggest Canadian tour of our lives!

2. Your upcoming Canadian run includes stops from coast to coast. Do Canadian

audiences differ from fans in other countries?

A) We have fantastic fans in every country, and one of the great things about touring is

getting to experience how the audiences differ from place to place. Every country and

every city has its own atmosphere and energy, which makes every show a little bit

different. Since we are playing in cities in Canada where we’ve never had the chance to

meet our fans before, we are really excited to see what they are like! It’s always special

to visit somewhere for the first time and finally meet the people who have been

supporting Sabaton from afar. We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of energy they

bring to the shows and hopefully giving them a night to remember!

3. The Legends On Tour schedule added a Thunder Bay show. What led to that decision?

A) After rescheduling the tour, we did our best to create good routing, which opened up

a couple of gaps in our schedule. While we were looking for cities where we could

expand the tour, the promoter from Thunder Bay reached out to us. It turned out to be a

perfect stop to add to the tour at the last minute, so everything fell into place really well.

4. Winnipeg received a second concert date due to demand. Were you surprised by the

response from Canadian fans?

A) Winnipeg is one of the smaller venues on the entire North American run, and it was

also one of the fastest to sell out. We could see that there was a high demand, with a lot

of people wanting to see the show but missing out on tickets when they first went on

sale. So, it was great that we were able to add a second date and give more fans the

opportunity to come and see Sabaton live in Winnipeg.

5. For fans attending a Sabaton show in Canada for the first time, what can they expect

from the live experience?

A) I hate to be the one bragging about how good we are live, so I’ll let the fans decide

that for themselves! But over the years, fans have come to our concerts, gone home

satisfied and then returned to see us again, so I think we must be doing something right.

I’m confident that the fans in Canada will have a good time! It’s also been a while since

we’ve been in Canada properly, which means that a lot of the songs in our current setlist

will be new for many people to hear live. We’re really looking forward to bringing the full

Sabaton experience to Canada and giving the fans a show that has been a long time

coming.

6. Many of your songs are inspired by history. Are there any Canadian historical events

that have caught your interest?

A) We covered Canadian history on The Great War album with a song about Francis

Pegahmagabow called “A Ghost in the Trenches”. But there are certainly other events

and figures from Canadian history that are on our radar. Maybe in the future!

7. You're set to perform in Edmonton and Calgary during this tour. Do you have any

memorable stories from previous visits to Alberta?

A)Both of these cities have always been among our top stops. The audiences there

seem to be properly into heavy metal because, as far as I can remember, we’ve always

had a full house whenever we’ve played there. Looking at the ticket sales this time

around, it seems like that’s still very much the case. We’re really looking forward to two

great nights, and I’m sure these shows will be among the highlights of the tour!
