PUNKSGIVING INTERVIEW - DEAD PIONEERS

PUNKSGIVING INTERVIEW - DEAD PIONEERS

ANOTHER AWESOME PUNKSGIVING PRE FESTIVAL INTERVIEW IN RED DEER ALBERTA

What does it mean to you to be part of Punksgiving this year?

We are grateful to be included this year. Not sure what to expect, but the lineup, the time of year and the people should make it pretty fantastic. We’re grateful!

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard
your music before?

I mean, punk. Post punk. I think what we are doing has some pretty solid bones in punk, but we’re also amidst the next generation of punk with sounds and ideas that push the medium. I’d like to think we’re doing that.

What can fans expect from your set at Punksgiving that they won't
get anywhere else?

Indigenous representation for sure. Some spoken word too.

What message or feeling do you hope people take away after watching
your performance?

Community, above all else. We like likeminded fans, saying the quiet things out loud whole also bringing a sense of community.

Are there any songs in your set that hold special meaning for you, and why?

Good question. I mean, yeah, for sure, but I also think there is something in the journey of it all. We are 5 guys that have been doing this for a short amount of time, but have had a chance to do a lot in the short time, and these songs are ours in that moment we share together, so they become part of the journey,  don’t they? Songs change for the band over time, I think, and also have a different feeling for a fan. I love all of this and think it’s important to the art of it.

Punksgiving is about more than music. How important is community
and supporting local scenes to your band?

This is wildly important. We don’t exist without listeners and fans. The energy of that in a live show is also paramount to out playing. Yeah, we gotta bring it, but you gotta be present with us and if we can share that moment together, it’s magic. That with the likemindedness of community, holding each other up and respecting one another? It’s the best.
