Misfortune Tellers
Who are the members of and what do they play?
Stephen Cameron: Rhythm Guitar / Lead Vocals
Jessica Pradhan: Bass Guitar / Lead Vocals
Zachariah Hassan: Lead Guitar
Tanner Reid: Drums
How would you classify your music?
Classifying our music has been something we’ve always struggled with.. I think it’s best
described as emo pop-punk, with a lot of midwest emo and 2000s punk/pop-punk influences.
Is there any inspiration for the band?
There are LOTS of inspirations, as we’re all avid musicians we each have our own inspirations
we draw from to form our own unique sound, but some key inspirations would be bands like
Green Day, Joyce Manor, Pavement, PUP, Sorority Noise, and Built To Spill, to name just a few.
What are your goals for 2023?
We definitely have a lot of goals for 2023, we’re hitting the festival circuit super hard with
festivals such as HiLight Fest, Nextfest, and maybe some more, but we can’t announce that
yet... We also plan to do a weekend-warrior mini-tour in July! Although it will be small, it will be
our first attempt at sharing our music with cities outside of Edmonton. We have some potential
plans to continue recording new material, and maybe some releases planned… Above all
though, I think our goals are the same as usual: create cool music, share it with people, and
bring communities together through live music :)
What would be your dream collaboration?
Dream collaboration is a tough one, as I’m sure each of us band members have a different
answer as to what awesome famous band we’d love to work with. To keep things real and
grounded, I’m sure we’d love to play more shows (and maybe collaborate on some tracks) with local legends Medical Pilot. They’re a band we’ve all looked up to for years, and the people that
make up that band have been monumental in helped us get to where we are today.
Anything else you want the viewers to know?
We want all the viewers of this to know: be kind to each other, and support your local bands! I
think from the start this band has really been about bringing all kinds of people together,
collaborating over and celebrating our common love for music. So get out there!! Go see a
random show at a local venue, have a chat with the band members, stream their music, maybe
buy a t-shirt. Everything you do to support local bands invigorates and enables them to continue
creating music. We are super lucky that we get to play shows and create music, but it wouldn’t
be possible at all without people supporting us, so make sure you support local bands!
