Tebby and the Heavy!

Who are the members of the band and what do they play?

Hey everybody! Tebby is the vocalist and guitarist of the band. ‘The Heavy’ consists of Joel who plays drums and Louis who plays bass and sings back-up vocals.

How would you classify your music?

We don’t fit nicely into any specific genre, but we are heavily influenced by psych-rock, shoegaze/dream-pop, grunge, goth rock and surf. We are big into bands like Jesus & Mary Chain, The Black Angels, Dead Moon, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nightbeats, LA Witch and Ringodeath Starr

Is there any inspiration for the band?

Tebby always wanted to start a project which had direct shoegaze and psych-rock influences with a lot of guitar effects and verbed out vocals. They have family in Texas and often attend the Levitation festival in Austin so are big into those genres. The last concert they attended before the pandemic hit was Levitation 2019 and were very inspired from that year’s lineup to create a new project.

Tebby started this project after leaving another band at the start of COVID lockdown. They weren’t able to jam with other musicians because of the pandemic, so started recording songs alone on their computer. This project was kind of a creative refuge at the time for them.

We have a plethora of songs to share with y’all– the set we have been playing is just the tip of the iceberg! We have two new songs ready to go for the shows coming up!

What are your goals for 2023?

Finally get our EP we've worked so hard on out to the mini-masses! We’ve recorded everything but vocals, then we’re onto mixing and mastering.

What would be your dream collaboration?

Anyone from any of those aforementioned bands, would be a dream, even to open for any of them!

Anything else you want the viewers to know?

We have a show on Sunday, June 18th at the Buckingham supporting Mvll Crimes and Haters with Midnight Peg–it’s kind of a pseudo-Sled Island kick off show. Then we're off to shred with Gloin & Osees at Palace Theater on Friday, June 23rd! Opening for Osees is literally a dream come true!

Also, we finally have merch available so if y’all can’t attend a show and wanna show your support in other ways you can message us directly or grab a t-shirt, pin or stickers through our bandcamp site!
